Visiting aircraft will include a most notable and historically important aircraft, the C-47 paratroop transport That’s All, Brother. This very aircraft was the first of the paratroop transports to cross the English Channel on D-Day in 1944. Following the Pathfinders, the C-47s dropped waves of paratroopers into Nazi-occupied territory while the ground forces invaded the shores of Normandy. That’s All Brother was the first of the C-47s to drop US paratroopers into the battle that day, and attendees can come aboard the aircraft and even take a Living History Flight on it!
Traveling from San Marcos, Texas That’s All, Brother will be accompanied by the B-25 Mitchell bomber Yellow Rose, as well as the notorious Navy dive bomber, the SB2C Helldiver. The ferocious SB2C’s were responsible for sinking more tonnage during WWII than any other dive bomber, and the CAF Helldiver is the only remaining flying example of the aircraft in the world today.
Hosting the visiting aircraft will be Conroe’s own WWII T6 Texan/SNJ advanced trainer and the Navy JRB expeditor, on which the whole family can fly. The public is invited to bring the family for on-board tours with the aircraft crews, or to take the ultimate Living History Flight Experience in a WWII vintage warbird.
Flights start at $100 for the Navy JRB, $380 for the trainer, $249 on the C-47 paratroop transport, and $1195 for the Helldiver.
Flights are available throughout the day; tours take place during non-flying times.
